How These Calculators Work

To calculate Foot-Pounds of Energy:

Formula:
Energy (ft-lbs) = (Weight (grains) × Velocity²) ÷ 450240
This measures the kinetic energy a pellet or bullet has when fired.

To calculate FPS from Foot-Pounds:

Rearranged Formula:
Velocity (fps) = v((Energy × 450240) ÷ Weight (grains))
This estimates the velocity needed to generate a given energy.

Note: These calculations assume standard atmospheric conditions and do not account for drag, barrel friction, or energy loss.
